Project description

The project aims elaborating an EU-wide harmonized guidance document for the evaluation of all relevant environmental exposure entries of a biocidal active substance. Hereby, the implementation of Article 10(1) of the EU Biocidal Products Directive 98/8/EC and of Article 8 (3) of the future Biocide Regulation accordingly shall be supported. As a first step, a EU-wide clarification of the technical terms and definitions is carried out. The criteria required for identifying the relevance of cumulative risk assessments shall be presented and a proposal for its technical implementation shall be elaborated and brought to the EU boards. The proposal shall be tested by means of exemplary model calculations. Further on, the judicial consequences of different case studies of cumulative environmental exposure shall be analysed. Finally a harmonized technical guidance document shall be submitted.
