Bioassays allow the assessment of possible adverse effects of substances and mixtures on organisms from different ecosystems. Based on these assays, conclusions can be drawn about interactions between a test substance and the environment and important information is obtained for an effective risk assessment. The applied bioassays are the basis for assessing chemicals, biocides, pesticides, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and detergents. Additionally, the results are used for the classification of substances and products into water hazard classes (Wassergefährdungsklassen, WGKs), for defining the hazard criteria “dangerous for the environment”, and for eco-labelling.

We offer a comprehensive range of routinely performed studies on biodegradability and (eco)toxicological effects as well as mutagenicity, genotoxicity and cytotoxicity assays. Furthermore, we offer efficacy tests to proof the label claims of algicides. We are also pleased to implement studies with individual study design according to your specific needs. We have extensive experience in conducting studies with difficult test substances, such as poorly water-soluble, colored, volatile or unstable substances, and adapt the test design according to the requirements of the test substances.
